About
What Game Journal Weekly covers, how its ranking works and where its editorial limits sit.
Why this project exists
Game Journal Weekly is an independent English-language editorial project about interactive story Android games for readers using the Google Play India storefront. An editorial journal of four interactive Android stories available through Google Play India, comparing choice, readability, replay and access models. The project deliberately stays narrow: four selected games, one dated regional snapshot and a scoring system that can be read before any recommendation is accepted.
It is written for Indian Android readers choosing text-rich games and interactive stories. The ranking is not a popularity chart and does not assume that the largest download count, highest store rating or most recognisable name must win. Instead, every entry is placed against the same published questions, with strengths, limitations, price and current store labels kept beside the editorial verdict.
How the comparison is built
The source boundary begins with official Google Play pages using hl=en&gl=IN. On 18 September 2026, the project recorded the official title, developer, current user-rating context, review count, download band, India price, advertising and purchase labels, content rating and last-update date. Official icons and screenshots were downloaded, converted to local WebP files and logged with their source URLs.
We put agency and reading clarity ahead of plot scale. Price, ticket systems and replay expectations alter how freely a story can be explored. The four weighted lenses are:
- Choice consequence (32%). Whether described choices appear to shape route or relationship.
- Narrative identity (27%). How clearly the premise and presentation establish a distinct story.
- Mobile readability (21%). How well the format suits text and decisions on a phone.
- Access clarity (20%). How price, ads or tickets affect continued reading.
These weights produce a separate editorial score out of 100. That number is never presented as a Google Play user rating. Store ratings and review counts supply context, while the final order remains an explained editorial judgement. When a capability such as offline play or controller support is not confirmed by the listing, the site leaves it unconfirmed instead of guessing.
Independence and limits
No featured developer or publisher sponsors the order. The project does not distribute APK files, invent staff biographies, claim undisclosed partnerships or describe laboratory testing that did not occur. Official store images can show interface scale, art direction and the publisher's presentation; they cannot prove balance, comfort, network quality or performance on every Android device.
Prices, ratings, availability and live-service features can change after publication. Readers should use the ranking to narrow a decision, then reopen the official India listing to verify compatibility and current cost. Personal preference remains essential: a lower-ranked game may be the better choice when its pace, access model or central interaction fits a reader more closely.
Corrections and accessibility
Factual corrections, image-rights questions and accessibility reports can be sent to [email protected]. Include the relevant page, game and official source where possible. Confirmed corrections should update data/games.json and the generated HTML together so facts never drift between the visible page and its structured data.
